Maybe today will be the day...
that my life changes, that i can hold the hand of my little baby girl,
look into my daughter's newborn eyes and smile,
think about how far we have come,
the overwhelming love, and how our family has grown.
"for unto us a child is born..."

Road to Zion

InI been troddin’ on this road to Zion
Amidst the Babylonians cold as iron
Geared up pretty with a suit and tie on
Satellite images to keep an eye on
The righteous individuals they creep and spy on
Offer a shoulder cold as ice to cry on
They pick pocket everything you spent some time on
InI been troddin’ on this road to Zion
InI been troddin’ tryin find a haven
Try to stay brave clean cut and shaven
Try to stay safe keep from misbehavin’
Keep it real quiet meditate keep praying
Avoid all distractions creeps and cravings
On these streets no delayin keep it straight no straying
The night in Babylon dark as raven
InI been troddin’ trying find a haven
InI been troddin’ till I rest in the distance
Reach my destination place with persistence
This life keep flashing by my eye in an instance
Learn from the Most High, life and my instincts,
Amidst all this pressure pain and resistance
I come to find the meaning in this life and existence
In every little breath wish to make a difference
InI trod till I rest in the distance

Lion Sketch
Lion Sketch
An assignment was given to our cohort to bring in something
that represents us, our change over the last year,
a certain something, a tangible something to share our growth
to those individuals who have seen us grow,
and weep, and struggle laugh and pray,
meditate, communitcate, chant, and elevate.
This was a sketch to display the Lion in me,
but also to show that we are always changing, shifting, growing
as InI am far different than this morning,
having walked in the cool breeze of the day
and conversed in a way unplanned.
InI dedication to the Most High through all of the
learning, the yearning, the breaking of lenses
that have been created within me
through my experiences and trod.
What still remains is the desire for
overstanding and a consciousness
that allows me to be present in the present,
and in the Presence of HIM
We must now become something we have never been before.
For our education, experience, and environment have ill prepared us."

Coronation of Emperor Ras Tafari
Article published in Kingston, Jamaica, the 8th of November of 1930 in the "Blackman" newspaper.
History and Prophecy Coronation of Emperor Ras Tafari Article published in Kingston, Jamaica, the 8 of Noviembre of 1930 in the "Blackman" news paper. Last Sunday, a great ceremony took place at Addis Abbaba [Ababa], the capital of Abyssinia. It was the coronation of the new Emperor of Ethiopia - Ras Tafari. From reports and expectations, the scene was one of great splendour, and will long be remembered by those who were present. Several of the leading nations of Europe sent representatives to the coronation, thereby paying their respects to a rising Negro Nation that is destined to play a great part in the fiiture history of the world.
Abyssinia is the land of the blacks and we are glad to learn that even though Europeans have been trying to impress the Abyssinians that they are not belonging to the Negro Race, they have returned the retort that they are, and that they are proud to be so.
Ras Tafari has travelled to Europe and America and is therefore no stranger to European hypocrisy and methods; he, therefore, must be regarded as a kind of a modern Emperor, and from what we understand and know of him, he intends to introduce modern methods and systems into his country. Already he has started to recruit from different sections of the world competent men in dIfferent branches of science to help to develop his country to the position that she should occupy among the other nations of the world.
We do hope that Ras Tafari will live long to carry out his wonderful intentions. From what we have heard and what we do know, he is ready and willing to extend the hand of invitation to any Negro who desires to settle in his kingdom. We know of many who are gone to Abyssinia and who have given good report of the great possibilities there, which they are striving to take advantage of.
The Psalmist prophesied that "Princes would come out of Egypt and Ethiopia would stretch forth her hands unto God" (Psalm 68:31). We have no doubt that the time is now come. Ethiopia is now really stretching forth her hands. This great kingdom of the East has been hidden for many centuries, but gradually she is rising to take a leading place in the world and it is for us of the Negro race to assist in every way to hold up the hand of Emperor Ras Tafari.
